UNIMA stands for the Union Internationale de la Marionnette (International Puppetry Association), founded on May 20, 1929, in Prague, Czech Republic. UNIMA is dedicated to the art of puppetry without discrimination of race, politics, or religion.

UNIMA was established to promote mutual understanding and world peace through the art of puppetry and is the oldest international performing arts organization in the world. It is a non-governmental organization in partnership with UNESCO. UNIMA has member countries from over 100 nations and selects the host city for the General Assembly through a vote every four years.

UNIMA Korea was established in 1979 as the Korean branch in Seoul. It was registered as a social organization and re-established in Chuncheon in June 2020.
In accordance with the founding principles of UNIMA, UNIMA Korea is dedicated to the development of puppetry through education and guidance. We aim to foster active exchanges among members and promote international exchange with UNIMA centers worldwide.
UNIMA Korea is committed to sharing diverse information about the trends and situations of puppetry both domestically and internationally, ensuring that Korean puppetry can actively engage and communicate with puppeteers worldwide.
